Google, a global leader in technology and innovation, sought to inspire and empower young women with their "Girls Can" campaign. The mission was to create a series of videos that highlighted the achievements of powerful women across various fields, from astronauts to scientists. Targeting a diverse audience, Google aimed to showcase their tools while delivering an inspiring message that girls can achieve greatness.
Google chose us for our expertise in crafting clean, minimal animations that align perfectly with their brand's aesthetic. As the campaign was centered around Google’s UI, they trusted us to bring it to life in a tasteful and accurate manner. The project’s urgency stemmed from the need to celebrate and promote gender equality and empowerment through their platform.
We were brought into the animation phase of the project after The Mill had developed the concept. Our task was to bring these ideas to life through precise and engaging animations. We started by building a toolkit of animated Google UI elements, creating modular sequences using an animated version of the Google search bar. This toolkit allowed us to seamlessly integrate animations with footage, ensuring a cohesive and visually appealing narrative. Throughout the process, we maintained regular checkpoints with Google to ensure pixel-perfect accuracy and alignment with their brand standards.
The final deliverables included a 60-second anthem video and three 15-second cutdowns. Each video was a blend of real footage and clean animations of various Google UI elements, such as the search bar and interactive functions. These animations meshed with the footage to tell compelling stories of women's achievements, emphasizing the message that "Girls Can" do anything.
