John Deere, a Fortune 100 staple of American industry, is renowned for blending innovation with tradition. Known for integrating cutting-edge technology into their vehicles, they sought to unveil a new line of products in an unforgettable way. For their annual dealer event, they envisioned a cinematic experience that would not just showcase their new products but also wow their audience with technology-driven storytelling.
When it came time to debut their new product line, John Deere aimed to leave a lasting impression. Working with event partner SOS and Leviathan, they turned to us for our trusted history of creating high-quality 2D and 3D animations for complex environments. The event featured a 200-foot-wide, multi-dimensional stage that required precision, creativity, and a deep understanding of projection mapping to bring their vision to life.
We started by building a 3D model of the stage to map its intricate layout. This allowed us to preview animations on the multi-dimensional set and ensure every sequence aligned perfectly. To make the process manageable, we mapped the 3D layout to a flat, workable format and created After Effects templates that segmented the stage into distinct areas. This modular approach enabled us to animate seamlessly across the stage.
The animations used smooth transitions to introduce John Deere’s new products, leveraging the stage’s dimensions to create lifelike effects. Doors opened with weight and realism, and transitions felt dynamic and immersive. Our meticulous planning and creative approach ensured every animation enhanced the show’s cinematic atmosphere.
The final deliverable was a 45-minute projection-mapped animation that transformed a 200-foot-wide, multi-dimensional set into a storytelling canvas. The animations alternated between serving as an ambient backdrop and the centerpiece of the event, showcasing key brand messaging and the features of 28 new products. The animations turned the stage into an integral part of the event, creating a visually stunning experience attendees described as “very cool.”
